Irrigation
Irrigation water for Jharkhand is provided through 17,172 check dams and through several large and small reservoirs. Attempt is being made for creation of irrigation potential from existing Konar dam & proposed Balpahari dam.
Irrigation water for the command area of Lower Damodar Valley in West Bengal is supplied mainly through 8 nos. head regulators of Left Bank Man Canal (LBMC) at downstream of take off point from Durgapur Barrage (constructed by DVC in 1955 and subsequently handed over to the Govt. of West Bengal in 1964 on agency basis for operation and maintenance of the system).
Domestic & Industrial Water Supply
DVC has allocated about 796 MGD water from Damodar Valley system to about 162 municipal & industrial agencies scattered in the different reaches within the valley area.
Permission for extraction of water for industrial and domestic purposes
The intending party may contact the following officials to know the details of allocation of water, tariff structure, process of agreement and billing etc.
